In celebration of a great life! - Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of the Art of Living, who spent many of
his
formative years with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, has described Maharishi as a
"great soul" whose contribution to the world would be remembered
forever.
"Maharishi was truly great. He was highly skilled in managing world
affairs
and was equally dispassionate at the same time," Sri Sri said, recalling
the
time he spent with Maharishi in his early days. "Maharshi laid the
foundation for a new world based on the knowledge of the Vedas and
spirituality. There was none like him and none shall ever be again. He
remains unparalleled".
Here is a beautiful picture of his passing.
True yogis die in a way that is "conscious dying" - fully awake and
leaving
the body. Deep meditation (samadhi) merging with the greater universe in
meditation (mahasamadhi). Note the complete innocence in the picture. A
beautiful lesson of completely "letting go".
My years knowing and working for Maharishi were completely
transformative.
He was responsible for my study and immersion into Indian classical
music
(ancient Gandharva-Veda knowledge), and years of good health and
vitality,
clarity, enthusiasm and a deeper understanding into life. Without
writing a
long story here, it is sufficient to remember the huge impact he had on
other renown musicians around the world - Donovan, The Beatles, Stevie
Wonder, The Beach Boys, Andre Previn, Leonard Bernstein, to name a few,
besides the incredible fact of inspiring over 6 million people around
the
globe to learn to meditate -- and the effect this has had on the
collective
consciousness of humanity. (google: "Maharishi Effect")
With love and light,
