From the archive-inspired Dept. B collection, the Sonar reworks the iconic Ursula jacket for an individual, customised look.
This slim-fitting men's wax jacket is warm, stylish and steeped in detail with a story to tell. It stays true to Captain Phillips' original Ursula suit with a funnel neck, throat strap and multiple outer pockets, but adds its own twist with a webbed back strap and tonal ‘rip and repair' patches. These overlays to the traditional Sylkoil waxed cotton outer create the appearance of a well-worn jacket that has been restored and reinforced – a nod to the original ‘Department B', an area in Barbour's South Shields factory that specialised in repairs and customisations.
The Sonar also honours Barbour's heritage through the striking beacon print that decorates the cotton lining. This distinctive emblem pays tribute to the Barbour Beacon brand of the early 1900s, which was famed for supplying robust, weatherproof workwear to those who lived and worked in the harsh conditions along the Northumbrian coast.
