Welcome to a photographic journey into wonderland.
Each year, Rockness gets bigger and better and the line up this time was amazing, with something for everyone.
It started on Friday evening and some fantastic weather helped kick off the festival in fine spirit.
The flaming Lips stole the show on friday night with their flamboyant performance - A wonderful inflatable ball being roled out into the crowd. They loved it and funny enough he did manage to find his way back to the main stage, I had visions of him being rolled off to the dance tent!
Saturday was a sleepy start, the sun did not disappoint and the factor 30 was a common sight, hydration was the buzz word for surviving the Rockness fever.
Just too much to mention for Saturdays line up but I remember being in the Fat Sam's tent and it was a bouncing detroit social club, Frightened Rabbit and Super Furry Animals mincing the crowd.
The Wonderland tent has the tunes mixed up with the likes of Annie Mac and Dj Yoday. The sets they played were well electric and proved to be the place for some awesome crowd shots. Where these guys get the energy I just dont know!
Saturday had the main stage throbbing with Dizzee Rascal and then Basement Jaxx who did Scotland proud with a magical set of multiple outfit changes, and onstage jesting.
People left that place with happy smiles.
Sunday began with one burst of heavy rain which flooded everything but soon passed and the sun was not long in beating down.
Tommy Rielly played his first main gig and although nervous, played a stormer, the young lad looking forward to playing at T in the Park. The Wombats sounded awesome and then we got to the main acts of the night which really set the standard for future Rockness events.
Biffy Clyro played the set of their lives, the music was just amazing and the crowd were really treated to a frenzy of outstanding tunes, for those that just had to have it all. Jumping stages to see Placebo was a brave move.....as everyone wanted first row to view the Prodigy. It was what everyone had been waiting for and shit, it was suicide to be in those first 4 rows. It was an earth rumbling and deafening experience…
The energy from the crowd drove the final nights experiences to a close, nobody wanted it to end and I think if they had their way Rockness 2009 would still be playing.
Mental gig, bring it on for Rockness 2010!!!!
